Happy Valentine's Day! (a little late)

I tried to post this yesterday, but my computer locked up. The joys of technology!

Hope you had a wonderful Valentine's Day. Hubby and I decided to stay at home and spend the day together. I cooked a special dinner for him, paired with a bottle of wine a friend brought to me from Germany. Dessert was, of course, chocolate - Molten Chocolate Cake with Raspberry Cream. Yum!

This is the Valentine card I made for him. I used my new Always stamp set for this (bought it because of the incredible bird image and haven't used that one at all yet!) and the Cerise Designer Series Paper that was retired from the last catalog. Too bad - I really like this Designer Paper. Ribbons used were 1/4" black and 5/6" red grosgrains and the card base was Very Vanilla cardstock. The scallop/heart layer was popped up on Stampin' Dimensionals. The bottom edge was scalloped with a corner rounder and sponged with Real Red ink. When I got the card done, I just wasn't pleased with it, so I added the piercing on the scallops and underneath the phrase. Those little things really helped to finish the card!

Happy Heart Day Class Projects

I promised that I'd post a picture of the projects we did last Saturday at my Happy Heart Day class. I have it on good authority (all the ladies at the class) that these were awesome projects and that anyone who didn't take the class really missed out on a fun afternoon! ;)

We made seven varied projects - 4 cards and three 3-D items.

  • A 3x3 card
  • A Pocket Note card
  • A 4 1/4 x 4 1/4 card
  • A shadow box card
  • A Cupid Corn-filled cello bag & topper
  • A nugget tin filled with wrapped nuggets
  • A tube-shaped gift box

Bet you won't miss out on the next class! Stay tuned.... I'm planning an All-Occasion card class for Spring!

Rub-ons!

Oh my gosh! I am falling in love with Stampin' Up's new rub-ons! I only have one set - the beautiful Eastern Elegance rub-ons, but have more on their way to me. I can't wait til they get here. I can't wait to show you how fun they are! I have been waiting to post this for over a week now, but I can't wait any longer!

I got the idea for this project from my friend and fellow demonstrator, Deb Jacobs. Deb always has the neatest ideas! I took a wine glass and adhered "The Sweetest Thing" rub-on (from the Eastern Elegance rub-ons), tied a piece of red gingham ribbon and a couple of pieces of red grosgrain ribbon around the stem, and then filled the glass with chocolate valentine hearts. This is so simple but makes a stunning presentation, don't you think?

I've already showed it off to the ladies at last Saturday's Happy Heart Day class and now it's here for you to see, too. Speaking of class.... I will be posting the projects we did in the next couple of days. I really liked them and was happy to see that everyone in class did, too.
